I sell an informational CD on my website but conversion ratios are too low. What can I do? - Posted by Bill

I have been using Google and Yahoo for my site to sell CDs. I have recently used some long tail keywords which increased visitors, but not sales. The cost of advertising and getting sales seems high relative to the cost of each CD. I feel I should be making many more sales in the UK and abroad as I know from feedback that I have a good product, that is needed. It feels like I am missing a trick somewhere. Can you help.

Hello Bill. ( owner of NoMoreAnxietyMethod.com )

There are several changes and additions you can make to your website to start seeing positive results :

  • Instead of having the flashing banner at the top of your site place those pointers in bullet form under your title. The banner currently looks like advertising and may tick some visitors off.
  • Create a better headline. "No More Anxiety" seems too generic and does not offer any lead-on to read the rest of your sales letter.  For example, a better headline would be something like this : "Would You Like To Know A Way To Cure Anxiety Forever In Less Than 40 Minutes or Less Simply By Inserting A CD into Your Computer?". This does a better job of peaking the curiosity of a reader to learn more about your offer.
  • Bring the testimonial on your home page from the bottom to somewhere at the top of the page so web visitors can see it right away.
  • Make the navigation links on the left menu bar of your pages more prominent. Use a different color than that of your main text.
  • Capture Emails from your website visitors so you can market to potential customers via email even if they do not buy from you the first time. You could offer them a free ebook package as an incentive for signing up to your newsletter.
  • Add some clean web graphics to your website to give it some depth and a more professional look. A good strategy would be to add pictures of happy people that are stress and anxiety free.
  • I left the most important point for last. The text in your sales letter is currently too "bunched up". Make it flow more smoothly by adding sub headings, paragraphs, and bullet points so that it is easy on the eyes.

Hope this helps and Good Luck !
